HAV Assessments

Here at WG Safety, we are a company based in Wolverhampton, offering a range of health and safety assessments for the workplace. This includes HAV/WBV assessments, which stands for Hand/Arm Vibration and Whole Body Vibration. They are both types of risk assessments that are considered a legal duty under the remit of protecting employees from excessive levels of hand arm and whole-body vibration at work.

Each specific vibration at work risk assessment comes under the provisions of the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005. We can help to provide HAV and WBV assessments in Wolverhampton and surrounding areas for workplaces where employees are operating handheld power tools or driving mobile machines MHE within the workplace.

A Vibration at Work risk assessment is required, if any employee is likely to be exposed to daily hand arm or whole body levels at or above the A8 exposure action value shown in the table below:

Whole-Body Vibration Daily Exposure (8-Hour Reference Period) Hand-Arm Vibration Daily Exposure (8 Hour Reference Period)
Below the Exposure Action Value <0.5ms⁻² <2.5ms⁻²
Exposure Action Values (EAV) 0.5ms⁻² 2.5ms⁻²
Exposure Limit Value (ELV) 1.15ms⁻² 5.0ms⁻²

Excessive vibrations cause be linked to a variety of ill health effects such as vibration white finger, disabling hand arm symptoms and back issues.
